Book Review: The Personal MBA- Master the Art of Business

So what does a business book have to do with writing?
Good question.
The truth is that if we want to get paid for our work, there’s actually a lot of business involved in the writing life.
Yet many of us would rather be writing than business-ing.
Most of us don’t have time (or money) to go to school for business on top of studying our storycraft.
And that’s where The Personal MBA by Josh Kaufman comes into play. It’s designed to help us understand the most important concepts of business and it’s set up in a way that is easy to navigate. (In case we have specific questions or relevant issues we want to read up on or refer back to.)
Basically, it’s a way for us to gain the value of an MBA through reading a book.
Okay, so I’ll admit that I’m totally a geek about some of this business stuff sometimes. (Which is why I picked up this book in the first place.)
But I was super impressed with how approachable Kaufman makes the subject matter, as well as the wealth of useful information.
I love things I find useful.
Now obviously not everyone is going to get super excited about this book, and that’s okay.
But if you’re thinking about self-entrepreneurship, self-publishing, writing as a business, or just curious about how the money and market side of things works, I’d encourage you to take a peek at The Personal MBA. It’s a fun read (says geeky me) and chock full of info.
