Tis the most wonderful time of the year! Today we’re all about sitting back and enjoying some of the best the season has to offer. Here are a few of my favorite holiday things.
Feel free to chime in and share some of your favorites below!
BTW, there are no affiliate links or products here, I’m just sharing some things that have made me smile lately. Check out my holiday gift lists here, here, and here if you’re looking for ideas for your writing, nerdy, and/or book lover friends. (Or yourself! š )
A Few of My Favorite Things
Tea
Tea- and hot beverages in general- always make the top of my list of favorite things. š
My current favorites are candy cane green tea, winter wake up spiced black tea, and ginger turmeric. (I found all of mine at Trader Joes, if you’re looking to try them out!)
Baking
Something about the holidays being here means it’s time to be baking things. There’s nothing like listening to some tunes (next on the list!) and making something delicious.
Some favorite holiday recipes are pumpkin chocolate chip bread, iced oatmeal cookies, and sugar cookies decorated with enthusiasm by my girls.
And we’re hoping to make these adorable snowmen cinnamon buns on Christmas morning!
Music
Christmas music is the soundtrack to my holiday season.
Things I’ve been listening to this year includes Christmas tunes by The Piano Guys, Sufjan Stevens, and Audrey Assad. I’ve listened to Adore by Chris Tomlin more times than I can count. And Relient K’s album Let it Snow Baby… Let it Reindeer is probably my all time fav.
Movies
Charlie Brown Christmas and the original animated How The Grinch Stole Christmas are always on my “to watch” list.
Books
There are so many amazing Christmas books! Cranberry Christmas is an old family favorite, as is Castaway Christmas. We used to read Castaway Christmas every year as a read aloud!
Activities
There are so many activities happening at this time of the year, how do we know what to choose? I’ve been trying to be conscientious of not scheduling too many activities. We’ve been opting for some nights home to rest instead of doing things every night.
This year we’ve been enjoying activities such as counting houses with Christmas lights, making gingerbread houses, and wrapping up presents for our friends. My 5-year-old took part in a kid’s program where she was a very serious and non-smiling donkey singing songs such as Away In A Manger.
We’re also looking forward to attending a candlelight Christmas Eve service which is always a special time.
What are *your* holiday favorites?
What about you- what are some of your favorite holiday traditions and activities? Please share so I can steal your ideas! š
